The latest water vapor imagery shows a mid-level shortwave trough
moving through the central U.S. with southwesterly flow aloft over
much of the West. A moist airmass is in place over the Gulf Coast
region. Thunderstorms will be possible this evening in parts of the
lower to mid Mississippi Valley, over the southern half of Florida,
in southeast Arizona and across parts of the Intermountain West. No
severe threat is expected over the continental U.S. through tonight.

In the wake of a robust midlevel trough and attendant cold front
moving from the Rockies into the Plains, strong westerly surface
winds and 25-35 percent RH will overspread the southern High Plains
during the day. However, preceding rainfall atop already unreceptive
fuels will limit fire-weather concerns. Elsewhere across the CONUS,
a minimal overlap of dry/windy conditions will also limit
fire-weather concerns.
